Before your first appointment, you will complete our new patient paperwork. Any additional imaging reports from X-Rays and MRIs, or prescription from your MD (though this is not required) will also be helpful as supporting documents. We will email our new patient paperwork to you, or you can arrive 10 - 15 minutes prior to your appointment to fill out your paperwork.
Physical therapy sessions at Elevate typically are 60 minutes, one-on-one with your Doctor of Physical Therapy. However, length of sessions can vary depending on your specific needs and care plan, and can be 30 or 45 minutes as well.
The number of physical therapy sessions needed varies based on the nature and severity of your condition and your goals. Your therapist will assess your situation and develop a treatment plan that outlines the expected duration of therapy.

No. Direct Access to physical therapy in CA refers to the ability of patients to see a licensed physical therapist without a referral or prescription from a physician or other healthcare provider. This means that patients in California can go directly to a physical therapist for evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal or neuromuscular conditions without first seeing a primary care physician or specialist. In California, patients have unrestricted direct access to physical therapy services for up to 12 visits or 45 calendar days, whichever comes first. After this initial period, a physical therapist may continue treatment but must notify the patient's physician or other healthcare provider. Direct access to physical therapy has been shown to improve patient outcomes, reduce healthcare costs, and increase patient satisfaction. It allows for early intervention and timely treatment of conditions, which can lead to faster recovery times and better overall health outcomes.

During your first appointment, your physical therapist will conduct an initial evaluation to assess your condition, discuss your medical history, and develop a personalized treatment plan. They will ask questions, perform tests, and assess your range of motion and strength and more to determine your individualized plan of care. You will also begin treatment during this appointment, based on what is determined during your evaluation. Your physical therapist will also provide you with appropriate guidance and exercises to complete on your own to help you progress before your next appointment at Elevate.
The frequency of your physical therapy sessions will depend on your condition and treatment plan. Initially, you may need more frequent visits, such as two to three times per week. As you progress, the frequency may decrease. At ELEVATE we aim to provide the highest quality, holistic, and comprehensive care to our patients.
